Many K1000 bodies you see are post-1990 Chinese-assembled models, lighter construction than the original Japanese units. The Japanese-made bodies are heavier and have a brass top plate; mid-period Hong Kong assembly is a middle ground. Original Japanese bodies command 20-40% premiums.
