The Olympus OM-1 was launched in 1973 and remains one of the smallest, lightest 35mm SLRs ever produced. Maitani Yoshihisa's design influenced every compact SLR that followed. Mechanical shutter from 1 second to 1/1000s, no electronics needed except for the meter, OM bayonet mount with broad lens availability still today.
A working OM-1 with a 50mm f/1.8 Zuiko sells for roughly EUR 100-200 in good condition; bodies needing a CLA (clean-lubricate-adjust) trade lower.

Check the foam light seals around the back door - on most surviving units they have degraded to sticky tar and need replacement (an inexpensive DIY job). The prism can develop a "black line" from foam decay above it; sellers should be specific about prism condition.
Mercury-cell PX625 meters in early OM-1s need either a 1.35 V adapter (Wein cell) or a calibration adjustment to use modern 1.5 V cells. A non-working meter is not a dealbreaker - rangefinder photographers routinely shoot Sunny 16.
